Nazca City
Nazca City (sometimes spelled Nasca) is the capital of the province of the same name in the department of Ica. Its Spanish foundation was in 1591 by the Viceroy Garcia Hurtado de Mendoza, Marquis of Cañete.
Located in the central coast, 1,929 feet / 588 m.a.s.l. in an oasis valley, surrounded by the desert and huge dunes. Nazca is one of the driest places in the world with average annual precipitation up to a meager 4 millimeters.
It's a small city with 25,000 inhabitants, basic services, its population is engaged mainly in agriculture and trade.
Nazca has comfortable hotels, restaurants, craft centers and it´s surrounded by important pre-Hispanic archaeological sites.
Nazca is a hub for bus service, connecting the city with Lima, Cusco, Arequipa, Ica and Paracas.
The airport María Reiche Neuman ,airfield of Nazca, not has regular flights, only used for overflight the Nazca Lines, Palpa Lines and rental flights.
We recommend you visit to Nazca combined with Paracas, Cusco and / or Arequipa.
If you visit Nazca, you can continue your trip to Cusco by bus (15 hours) or go directly to Arequipa City (8 hours). These trips are at night and thus you will gain a day if you do not return to Lima (Go to bus services).

Antonini Didactic Museum
Located in Avenida La Cultura N° 600, East side of town. Visiting hours: Mon. – Sun. 9:00 A.M. – 7:00 P.M. Entrance fee. A collection of archaeological pieces of the different stages of the Nazca culture as well as trophy heads, musical instruments like pan flutes, textiles, mummies, etc. are exhibited in this museum. These discoveries are the result of the excavations done in Cahuachi the largest mud maid ceremonial center in the world. The museum also provides the chance to see the Bisambra canal, which shows the magnificent hydraulic engineering work of the Nazcas.
Maria Reiche Planetarium
Located in Jr. Bolognesi N° 147. Entrance fee. Small planetarium, located inside the Hotel Nazca Lines. Give talks on the Nazca lines and projections of them onto a vault can observe constellations, stars and planets and explains the relationship they had the Nazca with the stars and their position in the southern hemisphere. Evening graphical displays on a domed projection screen that last approximately 45 minutes.
Maria Reiche Site Museum
Located 5 Km north of the city of Nazca, 25 minutes by car at kilometer marker 416, near to observation tower. There's little explanatory material among the textiles, mummies, pottery, and skeletons from the Nazca, Paracas, Wari, Chincha, and Inca cultures, so don't expect any of the area's mysteries to be solved here, but the museum does a great job of showing the environment in which Maria Reiche, principal investigator of the Nazca Lines, lived and worked, and her vast collection of tools, notes, and sketches is impressive. The remains of Mary and her sister Renata rest is this house museum.
